One of the greatest privileges as a company is to create relationships with all of our homeowners, agents, and trade partners.
On #NationalGoodNeighborDay, we feel that no one can express our gratitude better than Mr. Rogers, “The gifts we treasure most over the years are often small and simple. In easy times and in tough times, what seems to matter most is the way we show those nearest to us that we’ve been listening to their needs, to their joys, and to their challenges.”

As the weather cools down, we are looking forward to lighting the fireplaces for the first time this season. Here are some things to remember before lighting the first fire of the season:
🔥Keep the area around the hearth clear of debris, decorations and any other combustible materials.
🔥Consider having your chimney, fireplace, wood or pellet stove inspected and cleaned by a licensed chimney specialist.
🔥Open the flue is open before lighting your fire to help ensure the fireplace will vent properly.
🔥Use a match or commercial firelighter. Never use flammable liquids to start a fire.
🔥Close metal mesh screens should remain closed whenever your fireplace is in use to help keep embers in the fireplace. However, keep glass doors open while a fire is burning.
🔥Choose dry wood for your fireplace.
🔥Do not burn plastic indoors.
🔥Before leaving the house or going to bed, you should make certain to fully extinguish the fire.
🔥Allow ashes to cool completely before disposing of them — ashes can take several days to cool completely.
🔥Never empty ashes directly into a trash can.

2. Turn off space heaters when not in use.
3. Avoid smoking in bed.

For #WorldStatisticsDay, we wanted to celebrate the 3428 families that are back to normal in their homes after devastation struck. This year has been difficult for everyone, but not having to worry about damage to your home makes each day a bit calmer.

"Our Project Managers (PM) are really something special. They restore lives. They make every homeowner feel like they are the only ones they are currently working with. By the time they finish the project, they often know the family so well that many homeowners say they are truly sad to see the PMs go and they say the PMs have become almost like family.
The PMs exude a sense of peace that is admirable! They seem to be able to juggle a million things at one time and not show the stress of it all. They are unflappable – things go completely sideways sometimes, and they just coolly get it all sorted out in no time. It takes a truly talented person to take on all that they do each day, home after home and family after family. Somehow, they are always ready to take on the next life we ask them to restore with energy and enthusiasm and they remain ready for the next challenge. " -- M. Williams

Thanksgiving Day is a great day to bring together family and friends; however, it is not a great day for a house fire.
Check out the tips below to keep your house safe this holiday:
🔥Stay in the kitchen when you are cooking on the stovetop so you can keep an eye on the food.
🔥Keep children away from the stove. The stove will be hot and kids should stay 3 feet away to ensure they do not touch the hot stove or get splashed with hot liquids.
🔥Clear the floor so you don’t trip over kids, toys, or bags.
🔥Test your smoke alarms before cooking by pushing the test button.
🔥Remove anything that can catch fire — oven mitts, wooden utensils, food packaging, towels or curtains — from your stovetop.
🔥Prevent fires by making sure your oven and stovetop are clean and free of grease and dust.
🔥Avoid wearing loose, dangling clothes.
GREASE FIRE
🔥On the stovetop, smother the flames by sliding a lid over the pan and turning off the burner. Leave the pan covered until it is completely cooled.
🔥DO NOT put water on the fire.
🔥Use salt, baking soda, or flour to extinguish the flame if a fire extinguisher is not present.
OVEN FIRE
🔥For an oven fire, turn off the heat and keep the door closed until the environment cools and the fire has diminished.

During this Christmas week, it is likely that you will see some freezing temperatures. Dare we even say a White Christmas?!?!
Make sure in the holiday madness you do these easy steps to keep your home safe:
❄️️ Even if you are leaving town, make sure your interior space is heated properly.
❄️️ Cover all outdoor water sources that could cause a pipe to freeze and burst.
❄️️ Find your home's water shut-off valve in case of a burst pipe. Shutting the water line off could prevent more serious damage to your home.
Should you experience water damage to your home from a busted pipe, locate a qualified water mitigation expert to prevent larger problems manifesting in the future.
