More than 150 law enforcement officers have been killed since 1997 after being struck by vehicles along America's highways. According to AAA, the towing industry is 15x more deadly than all private industries combined. It is for these reasons that all 50 states have enacted "Slow Down, Move Over" laws; to protect emergency responders and essential roadside workers.
Remember:
🚨 Move over to the inside lane when you see a vehicle with flashing lights stopped on the side of the road.
🚨 If you can't move over, you must slow down to AT LEAST 20 MPH below the posted speed limit.
IT'S THE LAW.
On Saturday night, you may see a large presence of emergency, tow, and other roadside worker's vehicles driving through Grand Junction. Their intention is to bring awareness to this critical safety issue.
Your safe and responsible driving is imperative so that they may go home at the end of their shift.
