We are happy to announce that the the Proclamation that limited Dentistry has been lifted by the Governor effective May 18, 2020. All preventive and restorative dental procedures may now be provided to our patients. We will resume our regular business hours on Wednesday May 20, 2020. We are looking forward to seeing our patients' smiling faces. When you come into the office you will notice that we have new protocols in place. We are taking the necessary precautions to protect our patients, our staff and our community from the COVID19 virus. If you have any dental needs, please call us at 360-943-5551.
The Governor has confirmed that Phase 1 of Safe Start, the Phased Approach to Re-Opening Businesses and Modifying Distancing Measures has begun as of Monday May 4, 2020.
On March 19th, the governor issued Proclamation 20-24 which limits dental services to essential emergency dental treatment only until May 18, 2020. Since the Proclamation was issued, we have been providing essential emergency dental treatment to our patients as well as members of community that are unable to find care elsewhere. We are committed to serving our community during this unprecedented time.
During this time, the staff and I have been closely following the guidelines set forth by the CDC, the Washington State Department of Health and the American Dental Association. We regularly participate in webinars and receive updates from these organizations.
Since day 1 of the emergency care proclamation, our protocols for providing treatment have exceeded the recommended guidelines. Our progressive, forward looking protocols have kept our patients, staff and community safe and inline with the phased approach for re-opening.
Relative to our numbers in Thurston County, our hospitalization, death rate, our stay in place and social distancing protocols, I am in favor of the re-opening. This is if everyone in our area respects and follows the fundamental protective measures. We are strictly following all guidelines recommended by the CDC, the Washington State Health department and the American Dental Association for patients and office personnel. The staff and I continue to follow the guidelines of social distancing outside of the office as well.
To me, the Safe Start plan for re-opening is not a green light for going back to what was previously normal.
We will continue with essential contact only, at a safe distance and with a mask until there is no longer a threat. Administrative functions will be done remotely when possible. We will continue to monitor our voicemail remotely as well. If you have a dental emergency, call 360-943-5551 and follow the instructions you will be given.
We will continue to protect our team, our facilities and most importantly our patients. We will do so by continuing all protective measures, while offering appropriate emergency dental services. We expect safe, respectful and thoughtful behavior of all people in our service line.
We understand that local failure, increase in hospitalizations, team members or patients falling ill, all will take us offline, if the current social distancing guidelines are not followed by all. We intend to stay safe, strong and online. We will still respect this contagion as dangerous and prevent, as best as we can, transmission to those people of my parents’ generation, many of whom are my most serious patients.
In order to stay on the right side of this decision I encourage EVERYONE to lead by example, because poor choices can and will delay it for all of us trying to get to phase 2 and 3 of reopening of the local economy.
We are nowhere near done with this challenge, but I am proud to say that Washington, statistically, has done a great job and with respect and diligence can continue that performance trend.
The Proclamation for emergency treatment only expires on May 18th. We will update our patients as to what treatment we are able to provide after that date.
Looking forward to better days in the near future.

Just a quick update to remind our family of patients that we are still here for you. If you have a dental emergency, just call the office and if we do not answer, follow the instructions on our voicemail. We look forward to seeing you when things settle down. We are are here for you if you need us.
As many of you may have read, we had planned to be closed until March 30th. Late yesterday, we received word that Governor Jay Inslee has mandated that dental offices may only see patients for emergent care until May 18th. If you have an upcoming appointment, a member of the staff will be contacting you to reschedule. If you have a dental emergency, we will be available to take your call and arrange for you to be seen in the office. As you know, the current situation that we all find ourselves in is ever changing. The staff and I are following things closely and if there is a change in the date set by the governor of May 18th, we will let you know. In the meantime, we extend our best wishes to you and your families and look forward to seeing you as soon as we can.
UPDATE FROM DR. VEGA : I wanted to let you as patients at our office that the staff and I are healthy and doing well. We hope that you and your families are also doing well. Out of an abundance of caution, I have made the decision to follow the recommendations set forth by the Department of Health and close the office until March 30th. If you have an upcoming appointment, a member of the staff will be contacting you to reschedule. If you have a dental emergency, we will be available to take your call and arrange for you to be seen in the office. As you know, the current situation that we all find ourselves in is ever changing. The staff and I are monitoring things closely and if there are any changes that may affect our planned re-opening on the 30th of March, we will let you know. In the meantime, we extend our best wishes to you and your families and look forward to seeing you in the near future.
