Current project, the new Ace Hardware in Saline. Should be wrapped up next week. Kudos to Alec & Mike, who have taken over and filled some big shoes after Chris left for Colorado. They are now responsible for our prep & hydroseed work and are doing an awesome job.
Office lunch today. Thank you Jim!!!
Here’s a beautiful patio/firepit project from summer 2018, still shines like new. #hardscapes #unilock #harborstone
A & H Lawn Service, Inc. added a new photo. September 18 at 12:18 PM · Brent is our September 2020 Employee of the Month! He is our youngest EOTM ever! This is Brent's first summer with A&H, and he's done a great job! Congrats, Brent!
Another plant material and hydroseed job wrapped up today and the final project for crew leader Chris M. Best of luck to him as he makes his move to Colorado tomorrow! Thanks for your years of enthusiasm and hard work, Chris!
We had a Company BBQ today so we could all say goodbye to Chris M! Chris has been with us for over 7 years now - he started with A&H when he was only 18 and he's been a huge asset to our company! We're sad to see him go but wish him all the best as he starts a new chapter of his life in Colorado!

Big boy building blocks. Just what are we working on? Stay tuned...
Almost 30 years since these boys started the business. They have to use a ladder now, but they’re still working hard! Proud of these bosses of mine! -KV
It’s getting close...but we’re just gonna enjoy these beautiful fall colors and try not to think about snow for a little while longer! WXYZ-TV Channel 7 October 16 at 6:50 AM · The NOAA has released its winter outlook for Michigan. It's going to be a La Niña season, and that could bring us more snow than average this year. Temperatures have an equal chance of above-average and below-average temperatures.

Getting closer....
For quite a while, this condo site was a glorified mud pit. Enter Justin and his crew, and we have this finished product 3 weeks later! Cannot say enough how well and efficient this project went. Great work by all who spent time on this one (Justin, Kam, Mike, Todd, Kris, Chris, DJ, Cory. Hope I didn’t forget anyone).
At the end of the day Tuesday..... :)
We're seeing the first "real" snow of the season out there today/tomorrow. Everyone please be safe on the roads!
Merry Christmas from Brandon, Tim, and the whole A&H Crew!
Kristy Vanderpool December 17 at 12:55 PM · A&H's 2020 Christmas Party - Drive Thru Style!
2020 Christmas Party - Drive Thru Style! Kristy Vanderpool‎A & H Lawn Service, Inc. December 17 at 5:35 PM · We had our annual Christmas Party last night. It looked quite a bit different this year though. We decided to have it "Drive Thru" style. Everyone wore masks, social distanced, and our staff only got out of their vehicles if they wanted a photo in front of one of the backdrops. We did allow masks to come off for the photos, of course. It snowed...and it snowed quite a bit more than it was supposed to...but of course that's how it would work when you're trying to setup for a drive-thru Christmas party for a snow removal company! It all ended up working out well and the snow didn't interfere too much. We wished more of our staff would've come out to celebrate with us, but we're incredibly appreciative of those who made the drive! We had 4 "stations"...Tim handed each person a Honey Baked Ham meal as they pulled in, then they went to Jim & Keegan where a number was drawn for their prize, third they met Brandon for their kiddos' gifts, and 4th they stopped for Kristy to give them their Christmas bonus. Quite a few got pictures in front of the backdrops and they really turned out awesome - if you are one of them, feel free to share your family photo in the comments! Thank you, again, to all of those who came to the Drive-Thru Party, we know it's not what we're all used to but we hope we were still able to bring you a little holiday joy! Merry Christmas, everyone!
Every year Joyce (mom of one of our longtime employees) makes us something for Christmas. This handmade snowflake is so lovely! Thank you, Joyce!!!! ❤️ -Kristy
Tom got the winter planter for the Saline Police Station set out last week! Great job, Tom!
Every year our very own “H” makes honey, from the bees he keeps, and sells it so that he can donate the proceeds to the Humane Society! Thanks for being awesome, B! Brandon Hertel December 19 at 4:44 PM · Making Christmas extra special for the doggies and kitties in need this year! Thank you for all that purchased honey making this donation possible! And the Humane Society employee for letting me take her picture with my big fat check!
We wish you all a very Happy & Safe New Year's Eve! I think we can all agree that 2020 has overstayed its welcome and we're ready to meet 2021! Wishing you all the best in the new year!
You've heard of the Great Blizzard of 1978, right? Fun Fact: that storm dropped over 35 inches of snow in Muskegon! Nearly 3 feet of snow from ONE storm! The Detroit area only received about 8" but that doesn't take into account all of the drifting! With winds in excess of 100mph, snow piled up higher than doors on homes! A&H Lawn Service, Inc. is celebrating 30 Years of Business this year! Thank you to all who have allowed us the opportunity to serve Saline, Ann Arbor, and the surrounding areas for the past 3 decades! Thank you to Tim & Brandon's parents, and grandparents, for helping them get the company off the ground back when they were just kids who didn't have a clue what they were doing! Thank you to some of our very first customers - Janet Thompson, The Logemans, Hans Patel, and Davco Manufacturing. Thanks to Bob Merchant for renting us our first "shop", and Mark Memering, at Express Tire Saline, for renting us our next one, when we outgrew the first. Thank you to our very first employees, Dax & Steve! Thank you to Karen & Phyllis at Ledger Rite and Bill at MRPR Group (formerly Hantz, Rhoades, & Doehrer) for handling our bookkeeping and accounting throughout the years! Thank you to Old National Bank (formerly United Bank & Trust) and Bank of Ann Arbor - Scott & Dave, in particular - for taking chances with us! Thank you to Dennis, with Conlin, McKenney, & Philbrick, for making sure we're always on the right side of the law. A very heartfelt thank you to all of our customers who have allowed us to maintain their properties for so many years - Weatherstone Condominiums, Avis Farms, Oak Meadows Condominiums, to name a few. Thank you to all of you, who've ever had A&H work at your home or business! And last, but most definitely not least, thank you to all of our employees - from 1991 to today - who have made us the company we are and played such an integral role in our success over the years. Thirty Years....how is that even possible?! Especially when Tim & Brandon can't be a day over 30 themselves! 😉

First pic: 2001, when A&H had its first million dollar year! Second pic: 2019, after being named the Large Business of the Year by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce. Their hair has gotten a little thinner and a bit grayer, but those teenagers, who started the business in 1991, haven’t gone far!
So many people shared this post last week, THANK YOU! Unfortunately...we didn't get a single employment application submitted. 😞 Why do you think it's so difficult to find employees? We know it's not just our company or our industry, we've been hearing it from many small businesses over the past few months. We want to take a poll: "Like" if you think it's a simple case of "people just don't want to work", "Laugh" if you think it's that "people want to work but not doing manual labor, like the lawn & landscape industry requires", "Wow" if you think "people just don't think they can make a good enough living working in the lawn & landscape industry", "Angry" if you think that "the current unemployment benefits allow people to make more money not working than they would make working and it's simply not a smart financial move to give up the unemployment benefits", or "Sad" if you think it's something else. We truly appreciate you all sharing our posts, our 2021 Growing Season is just around the corner and we're hoping to add a few great people to our Team before it begins! A & H Lawn Service, Inc.
