Guess which Abanico's wall is getting revamped by artist π¨ Ana Cordoba!!??
Ana Cordoba is local artist from Spartanburg, bringing her Colombian roots and flair to the arts!
She will grace Abanico's mural with her colorful impressionism style.
With very few indications other than the concept of what Abanico is, days later she slipped back a rough sketch of the placement of some pictures she had brain stormed about Spain's πͺπΈ culture. Once we saw it we told her "take it away!"
We are very excited about what this is going to look. We have put no limits to techniques, which it makes it even more exciting.

We cant bring you the beach π΄ of Alicante to GVL, but we can provide you an authentic gastronomic experience like if you were there in Alicante.

Here is more history on the dish
The invention of fideuΓ is attributed to a picturesque story. Gabriel Rodriguez Pastor, (Gabrielo from a kiosk in the port district of Grau in GandΓa), worked as a cook on a boat and Juan Bautista Pascual (ZΓ‘balo), was the youngest man on the boat and his assistant. According to Gabriel's family, the boat captain loved rice and the rest of sailors almost never received their full portion of arrΓ²s a banda, the dish that the cook usually prepared. Trying to find a solution for the problem, the cook had the idea of using noodles instead of rice to see if the result was a little less appetizing for the captain.
The invention was liked, and fame of the dish spread to harbor restaurants such as the "Pastaora House," where they cooked the first "fideuades." The dish became distinctive and essential in the area.

Our local Venezuelan community is seeking help. Through their organization, they've partnered with Abanico Tapas Bar - Restaurant & Music to host their "First Venezuelan Christmas Encounter". This is a charity event which will be used to raise funds that will go to needy families in Venezuela due to the hardships caused by recent hurricane activity and the current pandemic.
We would like to encourage all of you to take a look at this and consider helping to share this event throughout Greenville's community.
We would also like to acknowledge the Reedy River Riot, Greenville Triumph SC, Gringos, ink n ivy, Blu, Hall of fame, tipsy Taco, tropical grille, Abanico, US crawl on their support and contributions to this event. If you want to have a chance at getting in on what they've offered, consider the raffle that they'll have going on!
This is not only for a great cause, but a great way to experience Venezuelan culture, food and entertainment.

The pepitoria is an egg yolk, boiled egg and crushed almond base sauce / stew from the 13th century until today, it has not changed its core.
