On this first day of fall, as you practice physical distancing and stay at home, you may be looking for ways to free up valuable storage space. What about that vehicle you never use? Donate it to Aberdeen Village! We’ll provide free pick-up for any extra car, truck, motorcycle, RV or other vehicle, running or not.
Donating is easy, and we’ll use the proceeds from the sale to support benevolence and life enrichment programs for residents. Call 844-490-4483 or donate online at giving.presbyterianmanors.org/vehicle-donations/.
There’s enough summer left to enjoy a few more picnics – and your favorite refreshing snacks. Try a Southwestern seven-layer salad. 🥗🌶 It's a nice twist if you feel like something different. It's great as a side or main dish. You may serve the salad on a tray or cutting board in layers, or serve in separate dishes and let guests add their own toppings.

As part of Aberdeen Village’s ongoing customer service initiative, residents and their representatives are randomly selected to participate in telephone satisfaction surveys conducted by Pinnacle Quality Insight.
The graphic below highlights some of the survey results. All scores are given on a 5-point scale, with 5 being the highest score and 1 the lowest score. Between July 2019 and June 2020, Aberdeen Village residents and their families gave the community high scores in safety and security, demonstrating dignity and respect, ease of the move-in process and cleanliness.
We greatly value the opinions of our residents and their representatives about the care and services we provide, and we encourage them to participate honestly when contacted by Pinnacle Quality Insight. All state and federal confidentiality laws are met in Pinnacle’s service.
Gifts matter now more than ever! Under the CARES Act, if you take the standard deduction on your 2020 tax return, you can claim a brand new "above-the-line" deduction of up to $300 for cash donations to charity.
Consult with your tax advisor to learn how this opportunity may complement your own personal, philanthropic and tax planning objectives.
Contact our Department of Giving at development@pmma.org or (316) 685-1100 to learn how your gift can help further our mission.

Our residents have love stories and we're sharing 7 of them this month. 💘 Our second one is from Keith Graham:
💞 How did you and your spouse meet?
Serendipity. My folks moved to Lincoln, Neb., over the Labor Day weekend in 1950. They moved back to Cincinnati, Ohio, over the Labor Day weekend in 1952. During those two years:
⛪️ My folks joined the First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln with me as an absentee since I was a freshman at Purdue University.
👋 Marilyn and her sister joined the church on that same Sunday.
📚 I transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a sophomore.
💗 I met Marilyn at the church’s college-age youth group.
After my folks moved back to Ohio, I, of course, wanted to stay in Nebraska such that Marilyn and I were married December 20, 1952, in the First Presbyterian Church Lincoln Nebraska during my junior year at the University of Nebraska.

Each February brings up tales of love and Cupid’s arrow tying two hearts together forever. This year, we asked residents to share their own. 💘 Our first one is from Joan Gross:
💞 How did you and your spouse meet?
My husband and I met when he joined our youth group at church. He was coming from South Carolina. He had the biggest dimples I’d ever seen and he talked funny. Our first few “dates” were with the youth group.
💞 What was your favorite/most romantic Valentine’s Day gift?
We were on an excursion with the youth group, taking a train to one of the little towns away from where we lived. In the train station, we found a vending machine that stamped what you wanted to say on a metal disc.
My future husband had our names stamped on the disc, and I had that on my keychain for many years, even after we were married and had four children. I think he paid about 10 cents for that little disc.
We are having so much fun this week playing Touchdown Bingo and answering Super Bowl Trivia questions. ❤️🏈💛 We are calling this week Red Week, leading up to The Kansas City Chiefs' repeat appearance in the Super Bowl on Sunday. Our staff enjoys the trivia and Bingo is always a big hit.
Monday's Winners: Roberto (IL security) won Trivia and Mambi (nursing) won Bingo. On Tuesday the winners were Cory (director of Environmental Services) for Trivia and Eleanor (COVID nursing) for Bingo. Winners on Wednesday were Jason (physical therapy) for Trivia and Janelle (social services) for Bingo.
Looks like we are spreading the winnings around to all of our departments. 😄 Keep an eye out for more winners with #RedShirtFriday coming up.
