#TBT to 2015 when firm attorney Lena Laurenzo was sworn in to practice law in the state of Texas. Lena choose Judge R.K. Sandill, District Judge of the 127th Court, to give her the oath. She worked as a law clerk for Judge Sandill during her last year of law school at South Texas College of Law Houston.

Firm attorneys Benny Agosto Jr. and Lena Laurenzo have reached a large settlement arising out of a crash between two 18-wheelers. While the defendant driver was distracted watching vehicles on the other side of the road, he rear-ended another 18-wheeler. As a result of the crash, their client’s tractor was destroyed and his back injuries were so severe that he has since undergone two major corrective back surgeries. The lawsuit was filed in Chicago, Illinois against the out-of-state company and driver for being negligent and grossly negligent in causing this crash. The lawsuit recently settled for policy limits.

On Wednesday, the day before the third anniversary of the October 1, 2017 mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, a Nevada judge approved a global settlement of $800 million on behalf of all of the victims affected by the shooting. #TBT to 2006 when firm attorney Jennifer O'Brien Stogner was hooded at law school graduation by her dad, Michael O’Brien, STCL Class of 1974. Prior to attending law school at South Texas College of Law Houston, Jennifer worked as a legal secretary for her dad for two years because her dad wanted to make sure she knew “what she was getting into” before heading to law school. She ultimately decided to attend South Texas to continue her father’s legacy and with the hopes of participating in the school’s advocacy program. She graduated in 2006 as a member of the Order of the Barristers and received the Dean’s Outstanding Student Advocate Award for 2006. She was an advocate on the ATLA National Championship Mock Trial team, also in 2006. During law school, Jennifer participated in 11 traveling moot court and mock trial teams, winning numerous individual speaker awards as well as a national title. This month, Jennifer celebrates her 14th year of practice and her dad’s 46th year!
