Packing Tips:
•Use standard size moving boxes
•Tape the bottom & top with packing tape only
•Use MAYFLOWER.COM to offer packing guidelines, tips and other useful info
•Wrap ALL items you pack with packing paper
•You can use towels, linens or clothes to help cushion in boxes or to fill the unused space in the top of boxes
•Be sure all boxes are filled to the top to prevent crushing when stacked
•Label boxes on the sides & ends so the movers know where to place boxes, typically boxes are stacked and movers cannot see the top of the boxes
•Mark boxes with contents and room they go into at destination
•if you have original boxes for collectibles be sure to pack those in a standard moving box, it is challenging for movers to handle lots of little boxes

If possible, take your children to see their new home and neighborhood in advance. This will help to take the “mystery” out of the move. If it is not possible to go to your new neighborhood, try to compile as much information about the neighborhood as you can. The Internet can offer a wealth of resources. Also, try to get a couple of photographs of your new home and surroundings (ask your real estate agent to help), and share the information with your children.

Things to remember in a winter move:
• Doors will be opening and closing or even propped open on load/delivery days.
• Understand it will be hard to regulate heat and dress accordingly.
• Allow access to a sink for drinking water. Even though it’s cold, the crews need to stay hydrated.
• Make a designated restroom available for their use with toilet paper, soap and paper towels.
