One of the greatest things for us at Accurate Concrete Cutting could ever do is perform a project for our Veterans, this piece of History was placed here but never forgotten about, very few know what it was or where it came from. This mast was placed at this Sea Scout site along the Columbia River the Base will be going through some updates and the Mast was having to be moved for a new role besides being a Monument for the Sea Scout Base. That's when a group from the USS Nicholas Veterans Asso. came out and discussed what to do with it. That's when the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis said lets bring it and set it up here. So it began, we worked on how to move it with out disturbing the Dike the Mast or anything in the general area even the air space over head right next to PDX (the crane was 10' to tall at first when setting up) Thank you Ness Campbell Crane for being able to readjust to make the Port happy. Accurate ended up making 2 cuts in the concrete base to save as much as possible with out digging into the dike or removing to much of the mast to keep it structurally sound for transport or for reinstalling into a new location. Please take a moment to read the attached article to learn a bit of history of one of the fastest destroyers in it's day the USS Nicholas DD/DDE449, it lead the US Navy Fleet into Tokyo Bay in 1945 for the signing of the surrender of WWII and much much more. Thank you Bill Linn for reaching out to us, We at Accurate Concrete Cutting feel blessed to serve you our Veterans as you have served every one of us, All of us at Accurate would like to Thank all of you for your Service.
