The brain has its own lymph system called the glymphatic system. It acts as a dump truck to get the metabolic waste out. During Sleep the brain shrinks about 60%, (I think in terms of it squeezing out the waste) allowing the debris to get dumped into the lymphatic system starting in the neck. Seven to eight hours of sleep is vial for this process to occur. Waking up feeling groggy or hungover (without an liquor ingestion) is a sign that the metabolic waste was not cleared. Research is indicating that neurological conditions like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's might be aggravated by impaired glymphatic drainage. I can help you with this problem. Call for an evaluation. (please visit Drjockrs.com for detailed information).
September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, the teal colored ribbons hanging on lamp posts and trees serve as a reminder. Ladies, you know your body and if you are experiencing the listed symptoms please see your doctor. Don't rationalize your symptoms. (for more information on this symptom list please visit gaovariancancer.org/blog/staging)
Could be a sign of a needing a new pillow or mattress or stress or or or...call the office and let me help you feel better.
I was grocery shopping and noticed the grocery stores are stocked with Halloween candy. Sugar: more additive than cocaine, yet every month seems to have an occasion to celebrate with candy. Marketing knows our weakness for sugar! The stats for childhood obesity are staggering, not to forget childhood diabetes, and the increasing cases of fatty liver being observed in the younger population. (Please click on each image for full view and visit their websites for more information.)
We are blessed with a new grandson! Baby and Mom are doing well. Siblings are adjusting well.
I planted 3 butternut squash plants. They seemed to like the soil (clay) because they produced over 60 squash! I cube them, add a cubed apple, cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, and olive oil and then roast them for about 25-30 minutes. No sugar needed. The roasting brings out the natural sugars. A one cup serving equals 6.6 cups of fiber.
Are you afflicted by any of these conditions or symptoms? It could be that you are Omega 3 deficient. I carry a $40.00 test that can tell you right away where your Omega 3 levels are at.
It's so confusing to know what oils to use and how to use them. Hope this helps! I say stick with what nature makes and avoid the ones that mankind has tempered with. Often times nature does well, however, mankind thinks of ways to extend the shelf live on the oils. That's where most of the problem occurs. I tend to buy the smaller containers of oils because a good oil will turn rancid rapidly. (visit DrJockers.com for more information) Click on image for full view.
When one looks at the Standard American Diet it is easy to see that it's mostly an acid forming diet as opposed to the Alkaline diet represented by eating lots of fresh vegetables. Consuming 80% alkaline foods can have a great impact on your health. Why wait until there is a health crisis?
I keep finding more information on the benefits of Melatonin. It's not just for sleep. When taken at bedtime it does help promote sleep, however, when taken during the day it does not promote sleep. I just read an article on how it can augment chemo therapy for so many types of cancer. please visit https://drkarenleggett.com/blogs/dr-leggett/melatonin-far-more-than-your-sleep-hormone for more information. Stay healthy!

Probiotics are vital to our health, from the brain, skin, to the GI tract. There isn't a place in the body that won't benefit from Probiotics. The more strains of probiotics the better. Eating fermented foods is an excellent way to introduce a variety of strains into the body. Kefir, yogurt, pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi are examples of foods loaded with a vast number of probiotic strains. (please visit DrAxe.com for more information).
Please don't throw out the seeds when you carve your Halloween Pumpkins. Rinse with salt water and then roast them! You can eat a handful of roasted pumpkin seeds as a snack or add them to your salad, smoothies, top off gluten free pumpkin muffins... (Please visit herbs-info.com for more information)
The stimulation of bitter receptors in the mouth, liver/gallbladder and intestines promotes healthy digestion by increasing digestive secretions. This leads to better absorption of nutrients, natural detoxification of the liver, and — thanks to the gut-brain connection — bitters can even have a positive effect on stress. Bitters stimulate bile flow from the liver/gallbladder. Bile flow is the detergent that breaks down fats in the diet, it's also immuno-protective. What decreases bile flow? STRESS and estrogen dominance! Plus the good old Standard American Diet: over eating, too many simple carbs. Just saying! Should you have a fatty liver, please call my office, we can remedy that for you. No need for a liver transplant until its too gone. (please visit herbs-info.com for more information)
During these trying times it's very important to keep positive. It's easy to fall into the negativity trap by watching the news or listening to negative people. Be part of someone's shining light: offer a compliment, extend a helping hand, call a neighbor or friend who is practicing social distancing. Let them know you care and in turn they will know they are not forgotten. Kindness is priceless! (please visit hubpages.com/health/Positive-thinking-two for more information).
Roasting vegetables brings out the natural sugars and I believe make the vegetable taste far better. A favorite is roasted butternut squash seasoned with olive oil, cinnamon and a dash of black pepper. Add a cubed apple or two to the butternut squash and I call it dessert! Imagine cauliflower tasting so good that you go back for seconds! All because it was roasted. Enjoy!
Parasitic infections are NOT just a third world countries problem. If you eat food, drink water, walk barefooted, have animals in your home, animals that lick you, sleep in the same bed as you, I would venture to say that you are a host to parasites! It is my thinking that many health problems revolve around parasitic and Lyme infections. I was reading an article about the affects of parasitic infections on mental health as the parasites hijack the neurotransmitters. Is there really a deficiency of mind altering drugs in this country or are most patients being misdiagnosed? Food for thought. I started using a new product line that is proving to be most effective and is reflected in the vast improvements in patient's health. Call the office and schedule an appointment to see if you are a candidate for this program. 419-740-3099 (please visit DrJockers.com for more information).
Hippocrates, “Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food” It's amazing to me what Nature provides us with for promoting health in our food supply, yet modern medicine looks at synthetic, manmade drugs with many side effects as the solution to poor health and masking the health problem(s). Just look at the benefits of mushrooms! (please visit HORMONESBALANCE.COM for more information on mushrooms).
If you own a pet you have probably noticed that when they wake up from their slumber the first thing they do is STRETCH. We humans, with the bigger brain, tend to jump out of bed and start the rat race for the day. We need to learn from our four legged creatures to stretch before getting out of bed or shortly thereafter. It doesn't need to be a half hour's worth of stretching. Knee to chest, one leg at at time, hold 10 seconds for 5 repetitions then the other leg. Followed by bringing both legs knee to chest for 5 repetitions. The pelvic tilt, partial curl and trunk rotation are great when still in bed. If you have a desk job be sure to work the hip flexors. Glycine is an amino acid that enables the production of collagen, a protein that is an essential component of muscles, tendon, skin, and bones. Glycine is displaced by glyphosate, the active ingredient found in Round-Up. Glycine keeps the muscles, tendons and skin tensile, allowing for spring like action for movement. Once glyphosate displaces the glycine, it makes the muscles, tendons and skin rigid and more prone to tearing. Think about the listed ways glycine affects brain health and calming. Who doesn't need this brain effect in our current world health issues. Dr. Amy Shippy has a 2 + minute video on the benefits of glycine. Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is a favorite supplement for supporting the immune system and fighting off bacteria, viruses and candida.
