HVAC Myth: Cover your outdoor unit during the winter to protect it from the elements.
BUSTED!! If your HVAC unit has a heat pump, do not cover it at all because it runs all year. Otherwise, if heavy snowfall is expected, you can place a board over the fan. Covering the entire unit, however, seals in moisture and speeds up corrosion. If you're worried about your outdoor unit during extreme weather, contact us for recommendations!
