Our goal is to offer Recovery Residences and Job Re-Entry programs as well as hope and security in a non-judgmental format.
A letter from our Founder:
Families throughout the Shreveport/Bossier area are suffering from the ravages and chaos that a loved one’s addiction to alcohol, prescription drugs and street drugs can bring; it often leads to a complete breakdown of the family unit. Louisiana incarcerates more addicts per capita than any other state, but without a safe environment or employment available upon their release, they are doomed to repeat their behaviors unless we offer something different.
Our non-profit is dedicated to help those addicts as well as their families come together for recovery; we offer real hope and practical support by way of Recovery Residences, Job Readiness workshops, Support Groups for the family members, and much more.
I myself was addicted to methamphetamine for many years; discovered how hard it is to break the cycle without help, so I put my heart into obtaining my Master’s Degree to become a Licensed Addiction Counselor. and Licensed Professional Counselor. I started a treatment center here in Shreveport called Active Recovery LLC, and now have founded a non-profit to support where treatment falls short.
I realized that treatment can only go so far; if the client leaves the sanctity of our treatment center and goes directly back into the same situation she left, nothing changes, nothing gets better. We are actively seeking donations for recovery residences, Re-Entry programs and staffing for Family Support groups. This is a dire situation that will not get better without help.
