One of the most common conditions we treat is upper back tension and pain. It usually originates from stress, overuse, and postural effects on the trapezius muscle.
Acupuncture helps upper back pain in a few ways. One is by increasing blood and oxygen circulation to the area. The tiny needles also create painless "micro-traumas" when we stimulate the muscle knots. This causes the body to send white blood cells to the area in order to heal and regenerate the tissue. The result is improved flexibility of the muscle fibers and reduced pain.
Unlike many acupuncturists, we also include massage therapy and cupping in all our sessions (and without charging an extra fee!). This is because we believe in using all the tools available in our "wheelhouse" to get you feeling better and pain-free to live your life.

Did you know acupuncture can help with symptoms of Bell's Palsy? We have seen several patients recently with sudden onset of facial paralysis on one side. This is a bothersome condition which causes inability to close the eye (leading to eye watering or dry eye), difficulty eating or drinking out of straws, and it affects the appearance of the face causing one side to droop. Fortunately, we have been able to restore function and improve appearance DRASTICALLY within one to four treatments. It is so rewarding to see a bright happy smile in a patient who couldn't smile the previous week!
Treatment works best when we start soon after the onset of Bell's Palsy (within days to weeks). Results are still possible but take longer if it has been months or years.
