LATEST ON TROPICAL STORM ISAIAS
TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS have been expanded farther inland. Tropical storm force winds of 39 mph, with higher gusts, are expected to impact areas as far inland as the Philadelphia metro area and all counties surrounding I-95 Tuesday morning into the afternoon.
TRACK: While, always subject to last minute changes, model consensus has shifted west, bringing the center of the storm up very close to the I-95 corridor.
TIMING: Spotty thunderstorms are possible later today and tonight. Rain will intensify quicklu Tuesday morning, drying out during the afternoon. The heaviest rain and strongest winds: 10AM-3PM.
RAINFALL TOTALS: 3-5, locally up to 6” inland, 1-3” along the coast. The heaviest rain will fall from Philadelphia through the northwest suburbs. Flash flood watches are posted. Please do not try to drive through flooded roads!
WINDS: 45-55mph winds inland, 55-65mph along the coast, with some peak wind gusts near 70mph Tuesday afternoon. Some models (EURO) have even stronger wind gusts. So, it’s a good idea to prepare for power outages.
STORM SURGE: A general 1-3 feet is likely. So coastal flooding is still expected, especially at times of high tide. If you live at the shore, consider moving your car to higher ground and securing boats. Minor to moderate damage is possible to boardwalks and docks.
