Deborah Smith, is an experienced, Certified Hypnotherapist and a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists, through whose program of training she was certified. Founded in l951, this is the oldest and largest organization of its kind, and has an international professional membership. In addition, Deborah is Certified in Complementary Medical Hypnosis, which is her specialized field of interest. Currently a PhD student in Psychology , she also holds an M.A. in Transpersonal Studies with a B.A. in Education. As a culminating project for her Master's Degree, Deborah initiated a research study at the Health & Rejuvenation Center in Virginia Beach, VA. Working with clients of various ages and health challenges, and in conjunction with healthcare practitioners and physicians, the study examines the Effects of Hypnosis on Health. Findings strongly confirm the effectiveness of hypnosis as a beneficial, complementary intervention for a broad range of physical symptoms and diagnosed medical conditions. Certified in Pastoral Caregiving through the Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care in Richmond, VA, Deborah is also an ordained Minister. Over the years she has served her local faith communities through Board service, and Church leadership. In addition, she was the Founder and Director of a non-profit Center in Richmond providing spiritual enrichment through classes, study groups, workshops and pastoral care. Deborah currently lives in Richmond, VA where she offers hypnotherapy services in her wester Richmond Office and at the Health and Rejuvenation Center in VA Beach.
