I find myself often saying to clients "Well, if it was my house....I'd do X!" Now you get a sneak peek of my house as it slowly gets transformed! So many little things go into making a new space your own. For the record, I get to see all sorts of fabulous things all the time. I keep a list of the things that I love time and time again. My dining room is a combo of old and new. Table, chairs, bench have been in 2 different houses so far over the past 8yrs. This chandelier was on my wish list and it is such a perfect refresh to my existing items.

Here’s libby day 1 in our new house. I basically feel like she looks in this pic. Tomorrow is 2 weeks- 2 weeks of movers, electricians wiring TVs and grounding outlets and making things make sense (bc I’m crazy- everything on a dimmer ASAP!!), painters, handymen, deliveries of new appliances (Bc everything was broken ), Adt visits and garage door installs and everyday looking for the 1 part of the vacuum that will actually make it work (bc apparently the movers lost it in the move). I’m going to choose this as a teachable moment. Everyday I coach my clients who are living through the chaos which I breezily project manage and can walk in and then leave. I’m humbled by the dust and dirt and chaos and mess. My OCD and need for it to be DONE has officially been tested. I’ll forever be a more sympathetic designer for this experience.

Here are some fave memories of years past. The best part of the weekend for me is seeing and touching and sitting in all the things I suggest to my clients all year long. It’s amazing looking back at pics and seeing all the things I’ve taken photos of and then gone on to use in projects.

You know what’s super cool? The new residents get to redecorate this baby. If I were the designer I’d start by opening all the windows and airing this place out. Then I’d have someone come to do a sage/cleansing and I’d light a shit load of candles. I would do it on a budget because frankly there’s no need to bleed taxpayer $$$$ on new furnishings. I’d dig out some archival antiques, cover the Place in art (art that represents ALL of us), I’d steam clean the carpets, high gloss the walls and trim in a perfect shade of BLUE and make sure all the mattresses are comfy.
I’d use indoor /outdoor fabrics to accommodate the newest residents dogs and grandkids. I’d make sure the place was perfectly staged for joy, civility, class and peace.

Fun fact, before I went back to school @parsonsschoolofdesign I spent a decade + as an actress. While I never made it to broadway (my dream), I had a nice run doing some theater and lots of voiceover and commercial work. Last month my daughter and I had the awesome opportunity to audition for this @att spot. It was a great day on set. So now when you see us “acting-not acting” on tv and In print you’ll know that “yes, that’s my interior designer!” Life is certainly an adventure.
