We're open!
We have limited hours - please call the office (845-368-3455) to schedule an appointment.
We will be following the following protocols to ensure the safety of our staff and clients during the COVID-19 pandemic. PLEASE NOTE: For the protection of my staff, you MUST have a mask on when you come to our door. No exceptions.
Only hospital personnel will be permitted inside our hospital. Once you have made an appointment:
1. Clients should call the office when they arrive. Please remain in your car.
2. When instructed to do so, clients should bring their pet to the door, and a member of our staff will bring your pet into the hospital. Clients will not be permitted to enter the hospital.
3. The staff will get a history and the doctor will perform the exam while the client is on the phone. Any treatments will be discussed with the client before they are performed.
4. Pets will be treated and discharged while the client is on the phone; any medication will be given to the client when the pet is returned to you.
5. Clients must provide credit card details over the phone for any necessary payments.
We look forward to a return to normalcy, and hope that you understand that we are implementing these procedures to protect our staff as well as you, our clients, and keep everyone and their families safe.
Thank you,
Lawrence Ness D.V.M.

Please be aware of the following and share:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled certain varieties of Sportmix pet food due to toxic levels of aflatoxin. Regulators said Wednesday they're aware of at least 28 dogs that have died due to the toxic mold and at least eight that have been sickened.
Alfatoxin is produced by a mold that can grow on corn and other grains used as ingredients in pet food. The Missouri Department of Agriculture tested samples of Sportmix varieties and found very high levels of the toxin.
Holiday Pet Tip #4: Holly, when ingested, can cause pets to suffer nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Mistletoe can cause gastrointestinal upset and cardiovascular problems. And many varieties of lilies can cause kidney failure in cats if ingested. Opt for just-as-jolly artificial plants made from silk or plastic, or choose a pet-safe bouquet.

Thieves don't deserve kisses. Return my toy now
Holiday tip #3: By now you know not to feed your pets chocolate and anything sweetened with xylitol, but do you know the lengths to which an enterprising pet will go to chomp on something yummy? Make sure to keep your pets away from the table and unattended plates of food, and be sure to secure the lids on garbage cans.

Holiday Tip #2: Keep wires, batteries and glass or plastic ornaments out of paws' reach. A wire can deliver a potentially lethal electrical shock and a punctured battery can cause burns to the mouth and esophagus, while shards of breakable ornaments can damage your pet's mouth and digestive tract.

Holiday safety tip: Don't leave lighted candles unattended. Pets may burn themselves or cause a fire if they knock candles over. Be sure to use appropriate candle holders, placed on a stable surface. And if you leave the room, put the candle out!
