This week, the Plymouth Fire Department performed live-burn exercises at its Plymouth training tower. The department places strong emphasis on regular training – not only for new firefighters, but for firefighters of all experience levels.

While not unique to Plymouth, the Plymouth Police Department is warning residents of ongoing scams involving virtual payments, such as Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as demands for payment in the form of gift cards.
Scammers may use federal agency titles and fake badge numbers to appear legitimate. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from a government or law enforcement agency, ask for a case number, then hang up and call the agency directly to verify.
Government or law enforcement agencies will never ask anyone to purchase Bitcoin, gift cards, other forms of currency, transfer money, or submit personal or financial information via phone or email.

Blaine has more than 100 miles of sidewalks and 63 miles of trails. Public Works has six pieces of equipment dedicated to clearing these sidewalks and trails. Clearing and cleanup of roads is always the first priority. In Blaine higher use trails and outdoor recreation facilities are up next after the roads are cleared. Lower use areas are the next on the list to get attention. Multiple back to back storms also mean staff must go back to road clearing before returning to trails. A full trail and sidewalk clear takes about a week.
Staff does the best they can to scrape off the snow or loosened ice when working on sidewalks and trails. The City does not apply deicers or abrasives on the trails and sidewalks, as it is cost prohibitive and would cause damage to the landscape.
Pedestrians should always use caution when walking on trails and sidewalks under these conditions.

As a native predator in the southern two-thirds of Minnesota, coyotes have always been present in the Twin Cities, particularly in developing suburbs. Coyotes, like other wildlife, are attracted to the abundance of open and natural spaces in Maple Grove. While coyotes are not considered dangerous to humans, they have at times posed a potential threat to small household pets.
Please take these precautions to ensure the safety of your pet:
- Do not leave pet food or garbage outside.
- Do not leave dogs and cats unattended outdoors for long periods of time.
- Pets must be leashed while walking on sidewalks and trails, as well as within parks.
If confronted by a coyote, people are advised to make loud noises and “haze” the animal to frighten it away from the area. If a coyote becomes aggressive and a situation becomes an emergency, call 911.

In this CCX Media feature, Maple Grove Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Stifter shares the renovation of Gleason Fields to a baseball and softball complex. The project design includes four fields with artificial turf, a concession and restroom building, picnic shelter, and covered seating. In addition. the current neighborhood park amenities will also be enhanced. Plans call for the project to be completed in spring 2022. #MapleGroveMN
