"Over the past 20 years, I’ve been on one Anti-depressant or another, too many to count, sometimes taking 2-3 medications at one time. Some worked for a short period of time, while others not at all. Constantly starting a new medication while weaning off another one was exhausting. In 2013, I was officially diagnosed with “Treatment Resistant Depression,” My Psychiatrist recommended Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). I have had a total of 39 ECT treatments over the last five years, thirteen this past summer. While these treatments have little effect on my depression, they did result in some cognitive memory loss.
