Dr. Alan Westeren maintains an active clinical
and academic ophthalmology practice as
an author and instructor of cataract surgery.
Dr. Westeren has performed thousands of microsurgical
procedures including laser vision correction
procedures such as LASIK, LASEK, PRK,
cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and
many other types of eye surgery. He performs
and has taught the latest, state-of-the-art Cataract
Surgery & Laser Vision Correction Surgery techniques
as attending surgeon for ophthalmology
residents at University California San Diego. He
is author of two eye textbooks, chapters on corneal
refractive surgery and cataract surgery, and
is an invited guest lecturer on both coasts. He has
been a member of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract
& Refractive Surgery, International Society of
Refractive Surgery, Refractive Surgery Interest
Group, San Diego County Medical Society,
California Academy of Ophthalmology, Alpha
Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and the
American Medical Association.
