As a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Alan J. Dayan, MD, specializes in joint reconstructive surgeries that relieve pain and help his patients get their active lifestyles back on track. At his practice in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Dayan expertly treats degenerative joint conditions and injuries with the latest technology and state-of-the-art procedures. He and his highly trained staff are second to none, and with their desire to exceed patient expectations at every visit, make sure everyone feels welcomed and comfortable.
Dr. Dayan began earning his reputation for excellence as an undergraduate at the James Striar School, Yeshiva University, in New York City, where he served as valedictorian and graduated summa cum laude. He went on to earn his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York in 1991.
After earning his medical degree, Dr. Dayan completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopedic surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he served as chief resident. He also performed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York (now New York University Langone Orthopedic Hospital), where he has been an active member for over 20 years.
In addition to his private orthopedic practice, Dr. Dayan also served as medical director of NYU Langone’s Samuels Orthopedic Immediate Care Center, and is currently a clinical assistant professor at the New York University Medical Center. He is distinguished as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (FAAOS) and in 1996, the Guardians of the Sick in Brooklyn, New York, proclaimed Dr. Dayan “Physician of the Year.”
Dr. Dayan is an associate editor for the Orthopedic Bulletin, and his research is published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals.
