Did you know that Albemarle Therapy Center has a lending library of adaptive equipment for children to borrow for trial periods before they get their own? We also donate equipment to families in need of equipment that we have multiples. By having trial periods with equipment the families are assured they like the equipment and are committed to using it. We also partner with Rifton, an adaptive equipment company who has given to us on permanent loan a large adaptive trike, activity chairs and gait trainers. The vendors we work with NuMotion and National Seating and Mobility also can get us trial equipment. Please contact your therapist or Molly Zarski, PT at 434-962-4148 if you have a need.
Today I felt a wonderful inspiring joy that I have not felt in quite awhile and I just wanted to post this. I greatly appreciate my office staff, therapists, my husband and partner in the business, and most of all the families who trust us with the care of their children. It has been challenging trying to figure all this out - licensing, insurance, compliance, what disinfectants to use, where to find the right masks, etc. We are doing it and making it work! We will continue to move forward! Thank you all for everything. Molly Zarski, PT The Director of the Albemarle Therapy Center

Children's Assistive Technology Service February 19 at 10:00 PM · SleepSafe Beds donates a bed to a family whose extraordinary need was identified by CATS. The Travis and Roxanna Martin family of Fancy Gap includes a precious little boy who truly needs the features offered in a Sleep Safe Bed. His physical therapist at Carilion did a wonderful job explaining that, but Aetna, as a Medicaid MCO, denied the request. Aetna also denied hearing aids for the youngster, we might add, appalled! Roxanna shared the physician and therapists’ letters of medical necessity with CATS, and the technicality upon which the denial was based could be identified. This information will be used to help Sleep Safe generate a tutorial on how to best write these letters. We need more LMNs, both unsuccessful and successful, to analyze so that we can combat this problem. Please contact info@atdevicesforkids if you have one to share. Help others and help yourself get these special beds!
