As a practicing obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Alexandra Pellicena’s goal is to consistently provide compassionate, quality health care to women throughout every stage of their lives, from the reproductive years to menopause, and beyond. At her practice in Houston, Texas, Dr. Pellicena specializes in helping women find relief from severe gynecological conditions, such as osteoporosis, uterine fibroids, and endometriosis, which harm a woman’s quality of life.
On the obstetric side, Dr. Pellicena has extensive experience helping women navigate high-risk pregnancies, ensuring the best possible outcome for both mother and baby.
Originally from Madrid, Spain, Dr. Pellicena came to the U.S. and obtained her BS degree in biochemistry from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, in 1989. After a stint as a medical researcher, Dr. Pellicena earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated in 1997 with a concentration in human genetics.
After deciding to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Pellicena completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2001. During her education, Dr. Pellicena was awarded the Arthur M. Farris Sr. MD Resident Research Award for her research on the genetics of pre-eclampsia in 2000.
In 2004, Dr. Pellicena was board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and she’s a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. 
Currently, Dr. Pellicena has admitting privileges at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital. As a native of Spain, Dr. Pellicena welcomes both English- and Spanish-speaking patients.
When she’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Pellicena spends time with her husband and twin children.  She also enjoys Ashtanga yoga and playing tennis.
