BIOGRAPHY
Alison Cabrera, M.D. is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in shoulder and sports medicine. Originally from Garland, Texas, Dr. Cabrera earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she also completed her residency in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. She followed up her residency with an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
After growing up watching her own mother pursue medical school, Dr. Cabrera was inspired to use her own gifts to help others. Dr. Cabrera has herself been an Orthopaedic surgery patient on two occasions, having had ACL reconstruction and a later revision reconstruction.
Dr. Cabrera has performed extensive research on reverse shoulder arthroplasty, and has published scholarly articles on ACL reconstruction and scapular winging, provided professional presentations, and contributed her knowledge and expertise to medical textbooks used for teaching medical and Orthopaedic students. She currently sees patients and performs procedures at TOA’s Clarksville location. Dr. Cabrera is a member of staff at Tennova Healthcare and Surgical Care Affiliates in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Dr Cabrera serves as a team physician for Austin Peay State University as well as many local high schools.
Dr. Cabrera enjoys spending time with her husband, who is also a physician, and their son. They enjoy Crossfit and being active outdoors.
