--Winterizing-- What is it, and why is it important? What is a Winterizing treatment? Winterizing is nickname given to a fall specific fertilizer blend. Why should I Winterize? 50% of downward root growth happens in the fall and early winter. Providing roots with the right kind of nutrients strengthens the turf by improving overall cell structure, decreasing recovery time after winter, and increasing chlorophyll production in the spring. All Green applies the correct macro and micro nutrients for optimal root development and cell structure. Call us today to add the 'Winterizer' service! 801.477.1289 #whywinterize #promoterootgrowth #callus

Fall Pest Control Tips! It is finally upon us! The weather is starting to change which means, soon the critters will want to migrate indoors. Follow these tips to keep your house pest free this season! 1. Seal openings around the home Common entry points are around gas meters, dryer vents, outdoor facets, and utility openings where wiring and pipes come into the house. If the opening is as big as 1/16 inch most bugs can get in, and even 1/4 inch openings are big enough for mice. You can use caulk, expandable foam, copper mesh or even cement to seal up any of these areas. 2. Seal cracks around windows and doors Use weather-stripping or silicone or acrylic latex caulk to seal cracks and gaps around windows and doors. You'll want to remove any old material previously installed there to make sure the new stuff adheres well. If you have a garage that is attached to your house, you may want to fit the bottom of your garage doors with a rubber seal, which will both keep annoying pests out and keep heat in during the winter. Sliding glass doors can also be sealed along the bottom track with foam weather-stripping. 3. Examine window and door screens for rips and holes You'll want to mend any holes and rips, or replace the screens entirely. Some insects can even squeeze through tear free screens so the best way to keep all insects out of the home. 4. Install a chimney cap This will help keep wildlife out of your chimney that may try to spend the winter inside your home. If you have attic vents, install 1/4 inch wire mesh helps keep bats, squirrels and rodents from infesting your attic and getting inside the walls of your home. 5. Look at your homes exterior Is the exterior of your home inviting to pests? If you have a woodpile near the house or trees or shrubs nearby, you could be creating a welcoming environment for insects. It’s just a short leap for them to move from the nearest shrub to your front door, so keeping woodpiles, trees and shrubs away from the immediate areas around your home can help eliminate the insects that may be attracted to the inside of your home. If you follow these tips you'll not only be able to keep out those unwanted pests, but you'll also improve the efficiency of your homes cooling and heating by plugging any leaks in it's seal! If you notice any issues arise or if you already have an infestation of rodents call us or another local pest control company to help! #fallpesttips #allgreenpest #callus
-Black Widows- While poisonous, their bites are rarely fatal for humans. Females are black with the famous red hourglass on the underside of their bodies. Males are slightly lighter and have pink or red spots on their backs. They eat other arachnids and insects that caught in their web. After copulation, the female will eat the male which explains their short lifespan. Scientists theorize that this is to benefit their offspring's development by bringing them more essential proteins. Baby spiders are also cannibalistic and only a few of the original 300-900 eggs develop into adulthood. Black widows (especially females) are highly poisonous. 15x more than a rattlesnake! (although, victims receive a lot less venom then rattlesnakes) Fortunately for us they only bite when they are disturbed, and most victims do not suffer serious damage. Individuals at the highest risk are young children and the very old and sick. Effects of a bite can include, nausea, profuse sweating, sever pain in abdomen and back, muscle aches, hypertension and paralysis of the diaphragm, which can affect the ease of breathing. Pain may last for up to 12 hours and other symptoms might continue for a few days. If you notice black widows around your home, don't mess around with do it yourself products. Call in the professionals today to keep your home safe and bug free! #blackwidows #callintheprofessionals

Avoid common lawn care mistakes! Using a dull mower- Blades need to be sharpened at least once a year, even more if you mow your lawn while it's wet. A dull blade leads to frayed grass, which brown more. This makes people think they are not watering enough, or that they need more fertilizer, when the issue is their blades aren't sharp enough! Misusing your edger- When the line gets too close to the grass, the string can damage the crown of the plant this can throw the lawn into stress and even kill it over time. This will allow weeds to move in more quickly. Hold your trimmer parallel to the ground and never trim lower than the height of the mowed grass. Improper pest control- A healthy lawn has insects. A nice lush green lawn doesn't come without a biodiverse assortment of bugs. When nature’s balance becomes upset, damage can occur to the grass. The mistake happens when you assume a brown patch or other obvious damage is the fault of insects and blindly spray it with pesticide. You risk killing off the good insect when the problem may not be pest-related at all. The best way to avoid costly lawn care errors is to consult a professional lawn care service like All Green Pest Control and Lawn Care. We are familiar with the requirements in your area and can identify specific pests and diseases that may be causing your lawn problems. Sometimes the best way to avoid making lawn care mistakes is to step aside and let a professional do the job! #lawncaremistakes #Allgreen #letushelp
Leaf Cleanup! Clearing the yard of leaves is a necessary step this time of year. Leaving them in place can create damage to the yard by blocking out sunlight, and suffocating the grass by preventing air and sunlight access to the roots. It can also increase your chance of developing a fungus or snow mold come spring time. One thing you can do if you just have some leaves lying around the yard, is run your mower over them to chop them up into mulch. As long as the pieces are small enough to decompose this will create natural fertilizer for your lawn. You can also bag the clippings as you go to create a mulch layer you can apply on your flower beds, which make an excellent weed barrier if you don't mind the way it looks. The most important thing is that you want large debris removed, or mulched in order for it's beneficial nutrients to be used. They say the fall is when you prep your lawn for the spring. What do y'all think? #fallcleanup #leafremoval #itsimportant
