From 1937 comes another photo taken during the conversion of N. Clinton Ave., downtown St. Johns, from brick pavers to a concrete paved street. What was interesting were the businesses located above the street level stores. Above Bruno’s Restaurant at 100 N. Clinton Ave. is H. C. Clark Real Estate & Loans. The ground level store at 102 N. Clinton Ave. is mostly unidentified except to say it was an agency (insurance?) but above it was a dentist office. Nowadays I think the second story space downtown is made up mostly of apartments and not businesses.
