Despite Covid, if Fall Allergies Are Bothering You, It’s Time to Get Back in to See Your Allergist
COVID-19 has meant that lots of people have put off regular medical appointments. Those suffering from allergies and asthma may not have seen their allergist for a while. But with fall allergies upon us, a return visit might be in order.
Allergists have procedures in place to make sure that everyone stays safe during the visit, while taking care of fall allergy and asthma symptoms.
I would be happy to discuss tips for keeping fall allergy symptoms under control. Feel free to contact our office
Summertime should be fun for everyone, but warm weather can create a “hot mess” for those with allergies and asthma.
As a local allergist who specializes in treating allergy and asthma, I would be happy to speak with you about how allergy sufferers can avoid the summer triggers that may give them the appearance of black eyes or looking tired and rundown. We have offices in Middletown and Elkton!
No hazy, lazy days of summer for you – Warm weather means moving workouts outside. But for those with seasonal allergies, exercising outdoors can be difficult. Here are some helpful tips!
• Exercise outdoors when pollen counts are at their lowest – pre-dawn or in the late afternoon or evening.
• Take a shower, wash your hair and change your clothes after exercise. Pollen can stick to your hair, clothing and shoes, causing you to bring pollen indoors.
• Avoid running through the grass. This can stir pollen into the air you breathe.
• Keep an eye on the weather. Wind and rain can affect pollen counts.
• Listen to your body. Asthma can be a symptom of an allergy. If you are having trouble breathing, see your allergist.
Dr. Maher Nashed updated their business hours.
Allergists are specialists in administering
allergy shots, or immunotherapy, which
can actually stop the progression of your
allergies, cure you of your symptoms and
prevent asthma and the development of other
allergies.😀
Potential risks of non-specialist care includes:
• Misinterpretation of test results 😞
• Over-diagnosis 😒
• Mismanagement 😣
• Over-prescription of medications and
treatments ☹️
• Costly and unnecessary allergen avoidance 🙁

Many people – including those who suffer from asthma – think allergists only treat allergies. They don’t realize allergists are the specialists most qualified to treat their asthma – the specialists who can get asthma symptoms under control.🧐
Allergies and asthma are serious diseases.
Misdiagnosis and mistreatment can be dangerous,
even deadly, so it’s important to see an allergist
who is the best trained specialist. 🤓
Patient surveys find that most allergy sufferers
say allergists are more effective at relieving their
symptoms. Of the sufferers, 54 percent thought
their allergist recommended a treatment plan that
was more effective than any other non-allergist or
over-the-counter medication.
📢
If you are one of the 40 million to 50 million
Americans who suffer from some allergies or
asthma, you should be able to feel good, be
active all day and sleep well. No one should
accept anything less. 🙂
Lets not waste another second. Schedule to start 2021 off right!!!😊
What is an allergy?
One of the marvels of the human body is that it can defend itself against harmful invaders such as viruses or bacteria. But sometimes the defenses are too aggressive and harmless substances such as dust, molds or pollen are mistakenly identified as dangerous. The immune system then rallies its defenses, which include several chemicals to attack and destroy the supposed enemy. In the process, some unpleasant and, in extreme cases, life-threatening symptoms may be experienced in the allergy-prone individual.🤓

Alder Tree
All species have windborne pollen which has been reported to be a significant allergenic cause. People sensitive to one alder species are usually sensitive to all species.
OAK TREE
This tree grows all over the country and makes pollen in the spring. Many people are allergic to oak pollen, and because the trees are common in residential areas and parks, there can be a ton of it floating through the air. That can cause serious reactions in some people.
Pollen travels hundreds of miles. Research has shown that pollen of pine trees, a common culprit of spring allergies, can travel over 300 to 600 miles.
The Elm Family (American Elm Tree)
The American elm is widespread through the eastern states. It blooms early in March and April in the North with small inconspicuous flowers before the leaves appear. It is moderately strongly allergenic.
Pecan Tree
Pecan tree releases highly allergenic pollen grains, which are correlated to the incidence of hay fever in the exposed population. The contribution of pecan tree pollen to the symptoms was highly significant after discounting olive and cypress trees that also pollinate in the spring. In children, the pecan tree constitutes a possible etiologic agent for the development of asthma.
