Allied Professional Institute, an approved private
postsecondary school with the state of California and
approved through the Department of Health Services,
Laboratory Field Services Branch, offers a 80 hour course in
phlebotomy. 40 hours didactic and 40 hours practical. This
course is for persons with less than 1040 hours or no
on-the-job experience. The student must perform 50
venipunctures and 10 skin punctures on patients of all ages
and weight categories. The individual will receive lectures in
preparation for the up coming licensing exam given by the
State of California.
The 20 hour course is for persons with at least 1040 hours or
more of on-the-job experience or volunteer work and have
performed a minimum of 50 venipunctures and 10 skin
punctures on patients of all ages and weight categories over
the past 5 years or have been working as a phlebotomist.
This person will receive the title of Phlebotomy Technician I
upon successful completion of the course, national exam and
applying to the State for certification.
