WHY WE WALK WEDNESDAY
We all Walk for something different--a lost spouse, a parent, a friend, or just to support finding a cure.
Miller Bonds, Advocacy Chair of the ALS Junior Board, supports the ALS Association for his late Father, Bryan Bonds. When asked why he walks, Miller explains "My Dad will not get to watch his son and daughter get married, meet his grandchildren, or enjoy retirement and traveling with his wife. That time and those experiences have been taken from him, and I believe it is our job to do everything in our power to prevent the same from being taken from others. That is why I am asking for you to support the ALS Association through financial contribution for this year's walk which funds research as well as support and assisting those currently living with ALS."
The funds raised from Walk to Defeat ALS fuel our mission, allowing us to provide proper support and care for ALS patients and their families across the state. Register, donate and get involved at http://web.alsa.org/alabamawalk for the 2020 Statewide Walk on October 24th to join Miller and other Walkers, as we increase awareness of ALS and raise crucial funds.

November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to recognize and honor the tremendous contributions of family caregivers. Caregiving for someone with ALS has a broad and lasting impact, in both daily life and long-term well-being.
While caregivers agree their work is stressful, many also say their role gives them a sense of purpose and meaning in their life. But this year caregivers are dealing with the added challenges brought on by the coronavirus. For people living with ALS, an at-risk community for COVID-19, the need for caregiver support must be balanced against exposure to the virus.
If you are a caregiver, thank you for all you do and the critical role you play for your loved ones and the ALS community. For more information on our caregivers support group, please contact melissa@alsalabama.org. Know you are not alone!
Check out how Team Bazzel in North Alabama Walked their way last weekend! Thank you to Captain, Myra Bazzel, for leading Team Bazzel again this year in honor of her husband, Chris Bazzel. Team Bazzel creates a new t shirt design each year and sells them to supporters as a fundraiser for their team, with this year's design featured in these photos. Great work Team Bazzel!
2020 was full of unexpected challenges, but we made it! We are wishing you all a very Happy New Year full of peace. Here’s to making 2021 a great year!
As you may know, ALS is a disease that carries a severe financial burden for families, potentially costing over $250,000 a year out of pocket. People living with ALS have become more vulnerable and isolated than before during COVID-19. Your support allows them to sustain their quality of life as their condition progresses.
There are only a few days left in 2020, and we need your help to reach our $50,000 year end appeal fundraising goal. Would you be willing to make a special year-end contribution of $25, $50, $100 or more to fuel our mission? EVERY GIFT MATTERS!
Please join us by making your online gift at http://realityofalsalabama.org/blog. With your support, we can impact our community in a lasting way. Thank you for helping to make the lives of those in need significantly better!
