Altus Health System opened the Baytown location in the fall of 2010, and later the Houston location in the fall of 2017 at the requests of local physicians wanting to offer their patients another choice for their healthcare needs. In 2014, after seeing the need for another hospital in the area, the Baytown location transitioned into a 14 bed, surgery specialty hospital and rebranded itself as Altus Hospital. Following the huge success of Altus Hospital in Baytown, the need to expand strengthened and Altus Hospital in Houston was born.
