About

About the Practice
Our team at AM Diabetes & Endocrinology Center has created a medical home in Bartlett, Tennessee, where we welcome patients with diabetes, thyroid disorders, and full scope of endocrine problems. Internist and endocrine specialist Kashif Latif, MD, named the center in honor of his son, who has Type 1 diabetes and he was the inspiration for creating a holistic facility that provides quality, comprehensive endocrine solutions with personalized care. At AM Diabetes, we treat each patient as if they were our family member and desire to enhance the patient experience.
We are certified by the American Diabetes Association, an honor that is only awarded following a rigorous process of documenting patient care and positive results. We offer diabetes education classes as the cornerstone to help patients manage their diabetes with diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.
Our staff includes physicians, doctor of nurse practitioner, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, certified diabetes educators, and certified pump trainers. We offer a range of diagnostic tests, medical services, and procedures that keep most patients from traveling to multiple specialists at different locations.
As part of our patients’ annual preventive physical exam and diabetes physicals, our team at AM Diabetes & Endocrinology Center offers routine lab testing, EKGs, diabetic foot care, neuropathy exams, circulation screening, and an advanced eye exam with retinal imaging.
AM Diabetes & Endocrinology Center offers an insulin pump center, the first of its kind in the nation devoted to taking care of patients on insulin pump therapy.
One of the most beneficial services is for patients with newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetes is our walk-in clinic. At this time, we confirm the diagnosis of diabetes and commence with on-site treatment. Patients are monitored in the clinic as long as needed to be sure their blood sugar is stable. After they go home, the team at AM Diabetes & Endocrinology Center continues to monitor and see the patient on a daily basis until blood glucose levels are stabilized and a treatment plan is in place. Intensive care for newly diagnosed patients avoids the need for hospitalization and allows patients to continue going to school or work while receiving the diabetes care they need.
In addition, our multidisciplinary team treats all endocrine disorders including hypothyroid, hyperthyroidism, an underactive thyroid, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, thyroid nodules (including on-site biopsy if needed), osteoporosis, PCOS, and other hormonal imbalances.
Team members are available to answer questions and offer support. Call the office at 901-384-0065.

Social distancing refers to the practice of keeping space between yourself and others to reduce the chance of contact with those who knowingly or unknowingly carry an illness. To help stop the spread of coronavirus, health officials recommend avoiding large gatherings and maintaining a distance of 6 feet from other people. The CDC also recommends use of non-medical, cloth-based face coverings in public settings where social distancing is difficult, such as the grocery store. Medical masks should be reserved for healthcare workers.

Thyroid Disorder Nodule: Most forms of thyroid cancer will first present as a nodule. This nodule will be painless and is typically located in the front of the neck, just below Adam’s apple. A person will typically discover a nodule by palpitating the neck. This may be self-discovered in the shower or during a routine examination by a physician. Typically when a person discovers a solitary nodule they will not think much about it as these nodules typically will not cause any pain and can be somewhat unnoticeable. About four to seven percent of the population nodules on the thyroid are present and most of these nodules are benign. A solitary nodule is more likely to be malignant in people who are under the age of thirty or over the age of sixty. If you discover a nodule located under Adam’s apple, it is a good idea to have it checked by a doctor to rule out thyroid cancer.
AM Diabetes & Endocrinology Center Self-Management Program
Dr. Kashif Latif received his 1st dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today, and have since received his 2nd dose! This is truly the beginning of the end for corona... The CDC recommends continuing to follow the recommended preventive measures of masking, physical distancing and handwashing remains critical. While front-line hospital staff are receiving the vaccine, it will likely be well into 2021 before enough people are vaccinated to allow for loosening these recommendations. Front-line health care workers who receive the vaccine will continue to wear masks and proper personal protective equipment.
