It is with the heaviest of hearts the Village of Big Bend Police Department announces the passing of retired Lieutenant Jon "Bear" Kopecky. Lieutenant Kopecky passed away Monday, March 22nd.
Lieutenant Kopecky started his public service career with the Elmwood Park Police Department in 1979 and remained until 1984.
In 1984 he began working with the Wisconsin State Fair Park Police and remained in their employment until his retirement in 2016.
Lieutenant Kopecky started his service with the Village of Big Bend Police Department as an Officer in February, 1991. He was promoted to Lieutenant in June, 2000. Lieutenant Kopecky retired after more than 25 years of distinguished service with the Village of Big Bend on Christmas Eve, 2016.
Lieutenant Kopecky will be fondly remembered for his professionalism and dedication to the community. Please keep Lieutenant Kopecky and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
