Technical details:
- This patient had 2 premolars removed to accommodate the crowding in the top jaw. Orthodontists often do this to help get the bite to fit together better.
- Dr. Ariel treated this case with braces in 2 years. The patient was happy that his teeth were straight and none of his friends can tell that he's missing 2 teeth.

Technical details:
- This patient had an anterior crossbite and an impacted canine. Impacted teeth are covered in bone or gums and often need orthodontic assistance to find the correct position.
- Dr. Ariel treated this case with braces and a periodontist uncovered the impacted tooth.

When do I extract? Only when necessary:
🦷 to help relieve severe crowding, or
🦷 because a patient's facial esthetics could benefit.
Did you know that our teeth can affect our lip position? Sometimes when teeth are not extracted on a patient with severe crowding, the final position of the teeth can cause the lips to be pushed out like fish lips. In some cases, the crowding can be so severe that the patient has difficultly closing their lips, which is know as lip incompetence.
