Before joining American Income Life Insurance Company (AIL) in 2014, Michelle ‘Michy’ Martinez already had several layers of life experience. She had served her country for four years in the U.S. Army, where she attained the rank of E-4. After the military, Michy received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Marketing, and Business Administration from Daytona Beach College, which helped prepare her for the position of Executive Director for Mary Kay.
What brought her to American Income Life? “When Matt Henderson explained the renewals program to me, I knew it was where I needed to be,” recalls Michy. “To know you are building a legacy, while doing what you love, to me is priceless!”
Michy feels strongly about the value of AIL products. “American Income Life products help working families during the most fragile time of their lives. We help keep families together. Thanks to AIL products, the unemployed mother of four doesn’t have to worry about how she is going to take care of her kids,” emphasizes Michy.
“I am so proud,” she continues, “to be among the top five of the Legacy program in 2017. But to be able to inspire others and then see how their lives have changed is a very personal reward that means more than money.”
What’s Michy’s advice to anyone considering an AIL career? “Go for it,” she says. “It won’t be easy, and you will have bumps on the road. But enjoy your ride, because it will be worth it. If I could start over with American Income Life, I wouldn’t change a thing,” she continues. “Every step I have taken and every decision I have made has made me who I am today. I have enjoyed the good and learned from the bad.”
Michy is excited about the value her Agency brings to the area. “We can make a change! We can impact a family’s life,” she says. “We are in Miami, where there are many people who migrate into the United States. They are professionals in their native countries, but due to the language barrier and their continuing financial needs, they drive Uber, scrub floors, or do any other minimum-wage job. They deserve more. If they give themselves the opportunity to start a career with American Income Life, they will not only make more money, they also will grow professionally,” she stresses.
Leisure for Michy is spent with family or doing a bit of shopping. “I go to my kids’ sporting events and am always involved in their sports organizations,” she says. “I spend time with the family, and just enjoy them … because life is short. The one cause that is near to my heart is Lupus. My daughter Melanie was diagnosed at age 14 with Lupus, and that definitely has impacted our family,” she adds.
