Amy Swain‎Minnesota Academy of Audiology 18 March at 21:18 · With this chaos from the corona Virus I wondered why I am still open. I should close, keep myself and my patients safe. Try and stop the spread of this vicious virus. Then I had a son bring his dad in. His dad is 91 years old. He really wants his father to be able to talk to his daughter on the phone. She lives too far away to visit. His aids were about 8 years old and not working well. The family wanted to be able to communicate with dad. Later that day I went to my mother’s assistive living and knocked on a window to get her attention. She is in a locked down facility and feels like she is in prison. I can go to her window and call her. This is when I understood how important it is that I am available to help people connect. To help loved ones communicate. I am grateful to have the skills to provide this for people and I will try and keep my office open for essential care.
