Waiting for an immigration interview at the Chicago USCIS Field Office? They are currently working to reschedule adjustment of status, naturalization, and family-based petition interviews that were cancelled in March and April due to COVID. This process continues and cases filed after that or which were not yet scheduled will not be scheduled until the cancelled appointments have been rescheduled. We notify our clients as soon as we received the interview dates.

Nice way to start a Monday--one of our clients had her U VISA approved today! And a second client was placed on the U VISA waitlist! So happy for both of them. It has been a long road, but the end is in sight. Congratulations to them both!
H-1B Visas are changing. We are not sure exactly how yet but DHS announced that it wants to replace the H-1B specialty occupation visa lottery with a wage-based selection process, which would prioritize higher salaries. We will stay on top of this!

USCIS recently acknowledged that receipt notice issuance is delayed four to six weeks beyond the “normal” 30-day time frame for receipt notices. This is due to COVID-19 restrictions, an increase in filings, current postal service volume and other external factors. Notably, non-family based adjustment of status applications are experiencing significant delays.
Remember that USCIS will suspend all in-person services at local field offices, application support centers and asylum offices on January 19 and January 20, 2021. Look for reschedule notices to be sent.
