Opening in 2004 at Disney’s California Adventure park, the Tower of Terror was, and remains, the tallest structure in the park. The ride featured several unique features such as a computer controlled ride system that provided a unique drop experience with each ride as well as multiple ride tracks that allow maintenance to be conducted without shutting down the ride. In 2016, Disney announced the ride would be closing for rebranding. The last day of operation was January 2nd, 2017 and closed the next day for renovations, reopening on May 27th, 2017 as Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission Breakout!
