“Accused: Guilty or Innocent? Offers an intimate account of what happens when someone is formally charged with a crime and sent to trial – all solely from the perspective of the accused, their legal team and family members. Each episode follows the accused person’s journey through the planning of their legal defense, the trial and, ultimately, the verdict. As evidence mounts and the trial approaches, these emotional stories provide a first-hand look at what it is like when your freedom is on the line.” The first episode sets the tone for the series. There is no narrator, no fast-cut editing, no sensationalizing of the story. Instead, Lawson, his lawyer and his family do the talking, taking you inside the mind of a man who gunned down his wife in his own living room. Before you judge Bryan Lawson - you need to watch this episode in it’s entirety. You begin to discover the effort involved in obtaining evidence that is crucial to his defense and the soul searching he must go through when offered a plea bargain. Along the way, you see first-hand the security footage that captures the moments that led to his crime. AETV.COM Accused: Guilty or Innocent? Full Episodes, Video & More | A&E
Since many of you are home due to Covid - 19... Just Mercy is a another excellent film that I highly recommend. This film is about the exoneration of Walter McMillian who spent nearly six years on Alabama’s death row after being convicted of a murder he didn’t commit. A note at the end of the movie explains: “For every nine people who have been executed in the U.S., one person on death row has been exonerated and released, a shocking rate of error.”

Friday’s Food For Thought... “Days are expensive. When you spend a day you have one less day to spend. So make sure you spend each one wisely.” – Jim Rohn How are you spending your days? Are you taking advantage of this slower time? Our office remains open as we need to be available to communicate with our clients and to assist anyone facing legal troubles. We have also been using this time to work on a big project that will greatly assist our clients in the future. #timespentwisely #takeadvantageofthecalmbeforethestorm
Complicity and the Bystander Effect: In this episode of Law and Society, I discuss the crime of complicity and how a very small thing can have enormous consequences, and the phenomenon called the “bystander effect.” What is “Complicity”? Will I get punished if I’m hanging out with friends who commit a crime? Can I get punished if I give someone a ride who commits a crime? What is the UCLA experiment? What is the “Bystander Effect”? What is the Latane and Darley experiment? Why do people tend to not get involved if others are present? STEVENSONCRIMINALDEFENSE.COM Complicity and the Bystander Effect | Stevenson Criminal Defense
The Constitution and laws of this country have always given the citizens of this great nation the legal right to defend themselves and their loved ones from unlawful lethal aggression. Since 2017 I have been a proud member of the Critical Response Team for the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA). The USCCA is a membership and advocacy program that is dedicated to protecting individuals who wish to exercise their Second Amendment Right to carry a concealed firearm. During these difficult and challenging times, please know that should you be forced to lawfully defend yourself, I stand ready to defend you. In this episode of Law and Society - Cell Phones and Law Enforcement: - Why is the cell phone the #1 most sought after piece of physical evidence in criminal cases? - How does law enforcement retrieve information from my phone? - Can information like GPS coordinates / location, text messages, social media, private messenger threads, and other information be extracted from my cell phone? - Can deleted items be retrieved from my cell phone? - Can police and/or the prosecution retrieve information from Snapchat, WICKR and other “deleting” apps on my cell phone? https://www.stevensoncriminaldefense.com/firm-overview/radio-show-1/cell-phones-and-law-enforcement/ Cell Phones and Law Enforcement | Stevenson Criminal Defense
