As the situation around COVID-19 continues to evolve, we are taking extra measures to prioritize the safety of our clients and staff and have implemented a temporary protocol for visits to our hospital. Please follow these guidelines when visiting us:
-When you arrive at AESC, please call reception from your car (720) 842-5050
-Our staff will collect information from you and explain how the appointment will work
-Your pet will be taken inside for his or her exam. The doctor will perform a complete exam and will communicate with you by phone from the exam room to discuss clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and follow up.
-Discharge instructions will be printed, and all medication prescriptions will be brought with your pet back to your car by one of the technicians.
-Reception will then call you to obtain payment over the phone.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate through this situation.

This past week our Board-Certified Neurologist, Dr. Eric Glass, saw another fatal case caused by Fluorouracil (5-FU).
Sadly, we see far too many dogs that inadvertently ingest this deadly human chemotherapeutic ointment. We want to warn you about the extreme danger of this topical cream to pets and encourage you to spread the word to fellow pet owners as well as family and friends who watch your pets or come in contact with them.
Please read below about the dangers of 5-FU and help prevent future fatal cases. Click here to learn more. ➡️ https://bit.ly/3mzyGIw
During the month of October, we have been taking some time here at AESC to show extra appreciation for our incredible team! During the week of October 5th, we celebrated AESC Staff Appreciation Week and this week, we have been celebrating National Veterinary Technician Week.
We asked our team to nominate fellow staff members that deserve special recognition, whether they go above and beyond for our pet patients, have overcome a unique challenge presented by the pandemic, or are just overall awesome!
Here are some photos of the nominated team members receiving their gift bags! 🙂

If your pet ever receives a cranial cruciate ligament injury diagnosis, a combination of early intervention, advanced surgical techniques, and post-operative rehabilitation therapy offers the best long-term outcome. Each pet’s injury is unique, but in many cases, Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) Surgery is recommended. TPLO offers the highest long-term success rate, with almost all pets returning to near-normal function after surgery.
TPLO is major joint surgery, and excellent post-operative care is critical for successful healing and return to full function. Read our latest blog to learn about what to expect after your pet's TPLO surgery at AESC: https://bit.ly/2GQ4NDK

Kassidy is a beautiful 7-year-old Fox Wire Terrier who sustained an ischemic infarct (essentially a stroke) in her brain which caused her to be unable to walk, unable to sit, and unable to be in any position comfortably. Her owners rushed her into the AESC Emergency room, and she received care from our Emergency, Neurology, and Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation teams.
These brain injuries can often take months to heal. Kassidy made amazing progress with underwater treadmill therapy, assisted walking and intensive exercises, and phenomenal home care by the owners.
We are thrilled with her progress and her family is so happy to have her back running around and being her rambunctious self!

Environmental allergies can make your pet—and you—miserable, and getting to the bottom of their problem can be challenging. With the variety of environmental allergens, and each pet reacting differently, a one-size-fits-all treatment protocol does not exist. Instead, each pet requires an individualized management plan that will give them relief, and the best quality of life possible.
