Dr. Anya is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is highly trained in bariatric, endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. After receiving her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, she completed her general surgery residency, as well as an advanced laparoscopic research fellowship at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Then, she completed her fellowship training in advanced laparoscopic, bariatric, endoscopic, and robotic surgery at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston.
Dr. Anya served as a general surgeon at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. She also has experience as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Well-published in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Anya has written on research topics ranging from the use of gastric bands in the treatment of obesity to spleen preservation during laparoscopic removal of the pancreas.
