What could you do with $1?
The entire Arbor Company family has banded together to “pay it forward” this holiday season!
We have designated $1 per resident and $1 per employee in our entire company to go towards doing good in our cities and towns.
At Arbor Terrace Naperville, our plan is to pool our dollar bills together to help families in need at Welch Elementary School. With the help from the school Administrator, our goal is to donate gift cards in increments of $10.00 or $20.00 to help families purchase things they need whether food, clothing or gifts.
Will you support us? The amount you donate is up to you, but please keep each card in increments of $10.00 or $20.00. Please drop them off by December 15, at Arbor Terrace Naperville, 2920 Leverenz Road. Please stop at the front door
and a staff member will be ready to assist you.

Debby's Holly Wreath Cookies
Yields 2 dozen
1 stick butter
32 large marshmallows
4 cups Corn Flakes
Bag of Red Hots candy
Green Food Coloring
Melt butter and marshmallows together in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir until completely mixed.
Stir in several drops of green food coloring.
Remove from heat and stir in Corn Flakes until evenly coated.
Drop generous tablespoonfuls onto wax paper adding 2-3 Red Hots to each cookie before cookie dries.
Let sit at room temperature for several hours before attempting to remove from wax paper.
Store at room temperature uncovered or loosely covered.
Enjoy!

Thank you to Jim, our Maintenance Director and his team of Housemen for ensuring our safety! Jim and his team use an Electrostatic Sprayer for disinfecting purposes. This process is done 3 times per day throughout the community and is a way of quickly and evenly coating surfaces with a disinfecting solution. The kill time is 2 minutes for bacteria and 10 minutes for viruses!
There's nothing quite like the smell of freshly-baked, warm cookies wafting throughout the house during this time of year! To bring that wonderful aroma to you, a few of our residents would like to share their favorite holiday recipes.
Dixie’s Italian Cookies
5 cups flour
2 sticks of butter
6 eggs
6 level teaspoons baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
Preheat oven 325 degrees.
Grease cookie sheet.
Stir batter and drop on cookie sheet.
Leave cookies in 10 to 15 minutes.
Enjoy!🍪
Inger's cookies are so amazing, they can't be confined by a single layer!🍪
Inger's Seven Layer Cookies
½ pound melted butter
1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
1-6 oz package of butterscotch chips
1-6 oz package of chocolate chips
1-7 oz package of flaked coconut
1 can Eagle-brand condensed milk
1 cup chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put butter in aluminum pan to melt in oven while it is preheating.
Mix graham cracker crumbs into melted butter mixture and spread evenly on bottom of pan.
Add ingredients in layers, one on top of the other:
Butterscotch chips
Chocolate chips
Flaked coconut
Condensed milk
Chopped nuts
Bake for 25 minutes
While slightly warm, cut into squares. Do not remove from pan until next day.

Kolacky cookies are a Polish treat that are universally delicious! Especially when they're made by Caroline!
Caroline’s Kolacky Cookies
1 cup butter
1 8oz Cream Cheese
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
Topping: Use your favorite flavor of Cake and Pastry filling - not jam or jelly.
Combine butter, cheese, sugar and vanilla.
Mix til thoroughly combined.
Add flour, baking powder and salt and kneed to form stiff dough.
Roll into 2” diameter log.
Wrap in wax paper and put in refrigerator overnight.
Cut into 1/2” slices. Place 1/2 tsp (Solo brand- cake and pastry filling) on top.
Bake in 400 degree oven for 10-15 minutes until lightly brown.
Enjoy!

Add sifted flour and nuts; blend well.
Chill dough.
Shape dough around chocolate kisses, using about 1 tablespoon dough for each.
Roll dough to make ball.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 12 minutes, or until set but not brown.
Cool slightly; remove to wire rack.
While still warm, roll in confectioner’s sugar and let cool.

This holiday season, cozy up by the fireplace eating some of Evelyn's phenomenal Christmas Crescents!
Evelyn's Christmas Crescents
2 cups of flour (shifted)
2 sticks of sweet butter (no salt), softened
1 cup of Confectioner’s Sugar
1 ¼ cup of ground almonds
2 tablespoons of vanilla
¼ teaspoon of salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar.
Keep adding flour and powdered sugar little by little with vanilla and salt.
When well blended, add ground almonds and mix thoroughly.
Form little crescents (half moons) and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for twelve minutes or until golden brown.
Cool and sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.

At Arbor Terrace, every resident is a one of a kind person with unique journeys to our community. This is Arlene. Arlene came to Arbor Terrace after living independently in Lockport. Arlene chose Arbor Terrace because of its closeness to her niece, as well as it being pet friendly. Bringing her two cats Wilbur and Joey with was a deal breaker. "They really are my family, and staff are so kind to them and so careful to make sure they don't escape my apartment."
What's the best thing about Arbor Terrace? For Arlene, it's the food. "You can tell everything is fresh and homemade. I had bread pudding the other day that was just marvelous!"
Arlene also appreciates how willing our staff is to help her out. The resident assistants make her feel more at ease, and the engagement team makes her smile. "Their carts are amazing," Arlene says of the latter. "They put a lot of effort into making them look nice."
