Dear Friends, Family, and Community Partners,
During a press conference last week, Governor Abbott announced enhancements to the existing visitation policy for long-term care facilities. It’s assumed that these enhancements will take place on September 24th, pending any additional directives that we receive from the governor’s office or HHSC.
You can find Governor Abbott’s announcement here: http://bit.ly/3kPzK9B.
We are working on our own systems and processes to comply with Governor Abbott’s announcements, and we hope to have more information for you soon. Please do not come on September 24th without prior approval as scheduling, screening, and verification of COVID-19 testing is necessary prior to being allowed into the facility.
Needless to say, we are so excited that our residents may soon be able to hug their family members again. We know that being able to see family is some of the best medicine for our residents, and we want that to happen as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and for helping to keep our residents safe.

Dear Friends, Family, and Community Partners,
As you know, tropical storms Marco and Laura will soon make landfall on our Gulf Coast. While Marco has weakened from a category 1 hurricane into a tropical storm and will strike well east of the Houston metroplex, there is a chance that Laura could gain strength and become a hurricane by early Thursday. Tropical storms can be unpredictable and chaotic, and as with any weather event or crisis, we will prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Tropical storms and hurricanes on the gulf coast are not a surprise, nor are they unprecedented. As such, we have prepared extensive and exhaustive emergency plans that have been in place since before we took over ownership of this facility.
We want you to rest assured that we will maintain a continuity of excellent care for our residents, and we will take steps to keep our staff and building safe – not just this week but for the remainder of the storm season.
We have generators in place to provide backup power, and we have taken steps to prepare the building for high winds and/or a storm surge. We have ample medical supplies including oxygen, and reserves of emergency food and water. We have designated ‘cold zones’ set up to ensure the safety and care of our residents should our primary power and air conditioning units fail. We are also working with our partners, vendors, and ancillary service providers to ensure continuation of services.
We’ve done this before, and we’re confident in our ability to be as prepared as possible. We are also following the lead of the National Weather Service, as well as other state and local authorities. We all pray for the safety of those impacted by the storms, and we will continue to keep you updated throughout the week.
If you have specific questions about a loved one, please call us at (713) 468-7833, or email info@arden-wood.com.
