The Cleveland Plain Dealer (9/16, Oatman) reported that dentists are seeing more patients who are grinding their teeth, which is probably due to pandemic-induced stress. Stress can affect oral health, says Dr. Matthew Messina, the interim director of the OSU College of Dentistry. The article reported that “using muscles to push teeth together and grinding around is one of the body’s ways of reducing the energy made from the stress, Messina said.” Dr. Leena Palomo, a dental professor at Case Western Reserve University, “recommends placing self-care and stress management as a top priority during the pandemic.” She also emphasized the importance of continuing to receive preventive dental care. “We need to be clear that dental check-ups and cleanings should not be delayed due to COVID,”
