5 Common Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Mistakes
We’re often asked, “what’s the difference between prefabricated countertops and slabs?” Here’s a quick overview:
Prefabricated countertops
Slabs of natural or engineered quartz which have been dressed with various styles of countertop-ready edging that are ready for custom-cutting
Once you’ve made your selection, we cut it to size for your project
The same quality as slabs, but generally 30-40% lower in cost Slabs (also called “raw slabs”)
Larger pieces that must be cut to size and fabricated before they’re installed
Can produce fewer seams on certain projects, depending on your kitchen’s layout
Generally, more color, pattern, and edging options than prefabricated countertops
So, which should you choose? We can help you determine that based on what your project requires, but typically prefabricated countertops are the best way to go for customers who want a balance between high-quality and reasonable prices!

Why is it so Important to Choose a One-Stop-Shop?
Quartz and quartzite sound the same, but there are quite a few differences between them!
Quartzite is 100% natural stone, while engineered quartz is manufactured from quartz, resin, pigments, and other materials.
Quartzite looks similar to marble or granite; quartz can be made to look like any type of stone.
Quartzite can be used indoors and outdoors; quartz should only be used for indoor projects.
Both types of stone are strong and durable, but quartzite needs to be sealed; quartz doesn’t.
If you’re still trying to decide between quartz or quartzite for your project, our skilled team can help you choose the perfect material!

Should you choose a prefabricated vanity top or a pre-cut one? It really depends on the size of your vanity and how much you’d like to customize it! A pre-cut vanity top comes with the holes for the sink and faucet already cut out. They’re designed to be used with the manufacturer’s under-mounted sinks, and the sink location is only in the middle.
A prefabricated sink only has the countertop edging applied and can be cut to fit a range of vanity sizes. They can be used with under-mount sinks, top mount sinks, vessel sinks, or integrated sinks. You’re also not limited to having the location of the sink in the middle! To learn more about our prefabricated countertops and vanity tops, contact us or visit one of our showrooms!
