Dr. Rafique received his medical degree from the Khyber Medical College. He subsequently completed research
fellowship in echocardiography and heart valve diseases at Cedars-Sinai followed by internal medicine residency
and cardiology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai/West Los Angeles VA. Dr. Rafique went on to complete the interventional
cardiology fellowship at the UCLA/West Los Angeles.
Dr. Rafique provides comprehensive general and interventional care in both clinic and hospital setting for a variety of
cardiac diseases. These include coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, angioplasty/stenting, heart valve
disease, valvuloplasty, PFO closure, hypertension, lipid disorders, congestive heart failure, abnormal heart rhythms,
peripheral artery disease, pericardial disease, and heart diseases associated with pregnancy and connective tissues
disorders.
His research focus includes novel percutaneous/structural interventions, device design, cardiovascular outcomes
research, predictive modeling, heart valve diseases and heart failure.
