Amputation inspections in the manufacturing sector begin..
In a recent press release, OSHA alerted us that they updated the National Emphasis Program (NEP) on Amputations in Manufacturing Industries. This particular NEP will identify, reduce, or eliminate workplace hazards associated with amputations in the manufacturing industries.
What does this mean for your customers?
Due to this new directive, your manufacturing customers could potentially see an increase in OSHA visits. During these inspections, compliance officers will be looking for the following:
• Machines guarded completely, meaning 100%
• Control of hazardous energy programs is in place, meaning 100% lockout tagout
• Minor servicing exceptions tasks are safeguarded 100%, or locked out 100%
