Have you found that homemade masks that loop over your ears interfere with your hearing aids? Broadway, VA local, Tanner Ryan, has come up with a solution! Using a 3D printer, this amazing high school student created an adjustable tool that allows you to wear your mask off of your ears, allowing your hearing aids to be unimpeded. When we asked Tanner how much he would like for them, he said "no charge," so we're passing this gift along to anybody who would like to try them for free. Give us a call to see if we still have some in stock, and you can come by and pick one up. Thank you Tanner!
During this trying time, it is important for you to be able to hear your loved ones, hear doctors, hear news reports, and to communicate with members of your community from a distance. Hearing has never been more important. Audiology Associates of Harrisonburg will be remaining open to provide care to our patients. Here are a few of the things that we are doing in order to provide the safest environment for you:
• We are staggering scheduled appointments so there is only one person / family in the office at a time.
• We are sanitizing surfaces between appointments.
• We are offering curb side pick-ups and drop offs for hearing aids.
• We are encouraging walk-ins to call first to make sure that we are available.
• We are accommodating those who cannot leave their homes by receiving and sending hearing aids and supplies via postal service.
• We are ceasing at-home visits per CDC and nursing home guidelines.
Please feel free to contact us at 540-574-4327 with any suggestions or requests.
Now, more than ever, communication is key, and hearing is the glue that holds communication together. We promise to do everything we can to continue providing care.
"Military working dogs played a vital role in the recent raid and death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi; however, temporary and permanent hearing loss due to high-decibel noise in training, transport and operations put these animals at risk. Now, thanks to an Army small business innovation program, canines may have new gear to protect their ears."
