Audrey J. Woolrich, MD, is a well-respected New York City board-certified gastroenterologist with over thirty years of experience treating numerous gastrointestinal diseases and conditions at her private Upper East Side practice. As a female gastroenterologist she provides comprehensive, compassionate and personalized care to her patients.
Dr. Audrey Woolrich is one of three physician siblings who were trained in New York City. Prior to settling in Manhattan, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and then graduated, as did her siblings, from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She then completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital and became their first female gastroenterology fellow.
The day after finishing her gastroenterology fellowship, she gave birth to her daughter and started her private practice in Manhattan, where she continues to provide comprehensive and compassionate care.
Dr. Woolrich frequently diagnoses and treats celiac disease, gluten intolerance and certain common enzyme deficiencies. These conditions often present with abdominal bloating, gas, gastroesophageal reflux and diarrhea. Patients also seek her expertise for the treatment of other conditions such as heartburn, abdominal pain and altered bowel function including constipation, diarrhea and gastrointestinal bleeding.
As a highly trained board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Woolrich is skilled in a wide array of endoscopic procedures. She performs colonoscopies and upper endoscopies for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, including polypectomies and cancer screening.
She performs most of her outpatient procedures at Carnegie Hill Endoscopy, the state of the art facility just blocks away from her private practice. She maintains clinical affiliations with Lenox Hill Hospital Northwell Health and Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
Many of Dr. Woolrich's patients are referred by their friends because of her approachability and thorough proactive approach. Besides having the pleasure of consulting and providing treatment to referred patients, she often provides gastrointestinal care for her colleagues and their families. Dr. Woolrich is also frequently sought out by patients who have consulted with other gastroenterologists but are either seeking another opinion or further care.
