Here's a tip: keep your onion refrigerated! Cold onion doesn't release that chemical compound as easily as it would if it were warm.

Winter weather will be bad next week. We are closed Monday and Tuesday. Many of our patients and several of our staff live in surrounding areas that tend to have frozen over bridges and loss of electricity. We want to be safe. We are calling to reschedule any appointments. Thanks for your patience.
IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM ESSILOR (This is the company who makes all of our glasses.) The significant weather events have impacted our national lab operations. We are monitoring the situation and making decisions based on the safety and well-being of our employees, first and foremost. Many areas are wrestling with the effects of this week’s winter storms e.g. widespread power outages and transportation issues. While several of our individual labs were impacted, the Essilor Network of Labs are working collectively together to re-route and deliver as many jobs as possible. Icy and impassable roads may delay the delivery of some shipments. At the moment, all network phone access to our customer service is down. We expect a resolution shortly. In the meantime please email your Customer Service Representative or reach out to your Account Executive for assistance. We will continue to update you as conditions change.

Experts don’t know why we close our eyes when sneezing but they’ve got a theory! When we sneeze, it’s a forceful, germ-filled burst of particles and microorganisms bursting from our nose and mouth when something irritates the mucous membranes of our nose or throat. Experts believe we close them to protect our eyes from particles entering while they’re exiting our nose and mouth!
Our sprinklers that we thought were turned off made some great eyelashes! Perfect for an optical office right?

What great neighbors! Czech Please Microbakery February 21 at 6:50 PM · I went to the bakery this morning and I'm THRILLED to announce that all is well in my little red pole barn in East Mountain. No frozen or burst pipes, no power outages, just blessings as far as I could see. The parking lot is still a little icy, but I expect that will be gone by day's end. . SO! We will be opening for Czechfast on Wednesday, but until then, here's what I would like to do for those in need of water: . I'll be at the bakery for a bit tomorrow (Feb. 22); y'all are welcome to bring bottles, buckets, Igloo coolers -- whatever you've got, fill 'em up! I'm fairly certain there's no boil notice in East Mountain, but I've asked to be absolutely sure; I'll update this post as soon as I find out. . The doors will be unlocked from 10am until noon on Monday, and I'll be back on Tuesday but I'm not sure what time yet. Beginning Wednesday, you can bring your containers by during business hours; even if we sell out early, we'll stay open to meet this need. . (I don't normally ask this, but please share this post so that anyone in East Texas who needs it might find it.) . . PS: I'm also working on some sort of inexpensive family meal to offer, but that will depend on what I can get ingredients for on such short notice; I'll make a separate post for that once I've finalized the details.
