They're common with football 🏈 players because they can happen when one player steps on the foot of another, or when a player's cleat doesn't release normally from the field. Some believe that the type of cleats, training methods and material of the turf 🏟 all contribute to this type of injury. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The mechainsm of injury is normaly a twisting 🔄 motion in the midfoot, and can lead to significant dysfunction and difficulty with walking, running, and other tasks. Besides being very painful, other symptoms are swelling, brusing, inability to walk or put pressure on the foot and widening of the foot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Surgery 💉 may be necessary depending on the severity and type of injury. A period of immobilization ♿ is usually required after a Lisfranc injury whether surgery was performed or not. Longterm treatment consists of supportive footwear/cleats 👟 and custom made orthotics. It appears that Jackson will be having surgery on his foot. We are thankful to resume normal life here after Dorian although the Bahamas have experienced a devastating situation. We have made our office a collection place for donations to help them as they have to rebuild practically everything.
